To be famous
Is to live as a fugitive.
Constantly robbed
Of the moment.
Constantly reminded
Of your petty Self.

In a narcissistic universe —
Created in flashes and shouts,
Sensational titles, words,
Bits and pieces,
Bouts of spotlight —
It makes sense.
How dull an existence!
Or should I say,
A captured non-existence?

I prefer a light-hearted life.
One lived constantly
In the shadows.
To be forgotten
Can’t be that dreadful
After all…
Once the darkness fall.

Hi, I'm Amina. I write poetry about battling depression, loneliness and alienation from the mad world we live in.
